Social Care – SSSC fees to be paid for new entrants

The Scottish Government announced last week that the SSSC and PVG fees will be waived for all new staff joining social care. It is not yet clear whether local authorities will have to fund this themselves but we do know that it will not apply to existing staff.

The seventh edition of UNISON Scotland’s Care Futures

Care Futures no 7 is published here on the website. Focussing as it does on the results of the recent UNISON Scotland survey of care workers about the extent and impact of staff shortages, it makes for grim reading. As well as that it mentions the suggestions UNISON are making as short term measures to address the crisis.
