2020 Stirling Council Christmas & New Year Holiday Arrangements
By UNISON, Dec 23 2020 10:27AM
Here are our Christmas closing arrangements for this year. Obviously, Covid-19 has changed how, where and when we work, so if you have any queries, please contact your line manager.
While most of our public offices are shut due to current Covid restrictions, they will officially ‘close’ at 3pm on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24 and will re-start on the morning of Tuesday, January 5, 2021
Due to service requirements, not everyone is able to finish work early on Christmas Eve, so where you are able to do so please use toil/annual leave to offset any early finish.
Where services continue to operate, are on-call or standby, arrangements which applied in previous years will continue, so please check with your line manager if this affects you
We have developed a festive availability rota for the senior team and other members of our Incident Response Team (IRT) should we be required to stand up our response and/or recovery arrangements in support of major emergency affecting our communities. Where support is required for this, please advise the Contact Centre on 01786 404040 and they can cascade to the team.
The Contact Centre will be operating emergency cover only from 3pm on 24th December until 9.00am on Tuesday 5th January.
National Festive Guidelines - As you may know, the Scottish Government introduced new guidelines for the festive period between December 23 and 27. You can find more about this here. https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-festive-period/
It’s vital to note that while the restrictions are different on those days, the very strong message from Government, the NHS, and all Councils is that we all need to exercise extreme caution around this time, and “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” There are very real concerns that any relaxation will mean a rise in Covid cases in the New Year. So, please be safe and sensible to protect yourselves and your loved ones.
The Government will be giving a further update on December 22
Level 3 and Travel - At the moment, Stirling remains in Level 3 of Covid restrictions. This mean we can only leave the area for essential purposes. This includes work, welfare and education, but not going away on holiday, including overseas. As a result of these restrictions, you need to be aware that any quarantine period arising from such a trip could not be authorised as annual leave. Check with your line manager if you have any queries.
